I feel like every year I am always surprised on how fast the holidays approach us. I never feel prepared for them. So instead of thinking about what dish I am going to contribute to Thanksgiving dinner or making my gift list for Christmas, I am thinking about what I am going to wear. How can I look fashionable at all the upcoming events and get togethers? I am a procrastinator.

I have put together some ideas of what to wear to Thanksgiving dinner, Christmas parties, and/or Formal New Year’s Eve parties. If you are really resourceful you could make a couple of these outfits work double time. I think this is easy to do if you have a good Little Black Dress (LBD). It can easily be accessorized and you can change the shoes around. I think black in general is a great basic color that looks formal and looks good on everyone. If you want something new for a party, I would suggest getting something that doesn’t scream Christmas. For example, red and green sequins or any kind of sweater with Santa or a Christmas Tree on it. We have all worn these at some point in our lives, my sister and I had matching puffy painted Christmas Tree sweatshirts with little ornaments on them and I am sure my mom at some point wore a Christmas sweater by Michael Simon. These items are left best a memory.

Here is my pick for Thanksgiving Day

You can still be comfortable and look good. Depending on how formal your gathering is, I would go for a sweater with something underneath because if your helping in the kitchen in can get toasty.  Or dress up a striped t-shirt with black pants and a chunky necklace.

Then on to all those Holiday parties with friends, coworkers and family.

Try a dress with a few sparkles on it with heels and you’re done. I love the metallic trousers paired with a simple turtleneck. If you daring enough to have a leather mini try a chunky sweater with it, simple is better. You can also wear tights underneath a dress or skirt to look a little more formal and so you don’t freeze.

If you have a formal event

Bring out your LBD and wear it with some strappy gold heels or wear a bold necklace.  Red always looks festive but remember  to keep it simple with your accessories. Use a clutch purse to dress any look up.

Here’s to a great Holiday Season and hoping that we can all sit back and enjoy them with our family and friends.
