Actually I am a spring and summer gal! So this is the first fall season in such a long time, (Donna Karan 1992!), that I have dove into with great enthusiasm and gusto! This season is filled with texture, new body shapes and luxe fabrics.
One zesty trend that normally takes a back seat to the new seasons clothing updates… BOOTS!
They are very much an important part of your ensemble and a wonderful way to freshen up your wardrobe. The 70’s still reign, so think bo-ho chic when choosing your skirts and pants to match up!
I trust that you can find “black” on your own, black boots are easier to find.
So I have reached out of our comfort zone for other fun color tones to shake things up a bit. Shoe Boots rank high with over-the-knee styles coming in a close second.
Here are the best new trends and how to wear them!
STACKED HEELS:
Spice things up with a color boot in a stacked heel that can be worn with leggings or a midcalf skirt/dress. Browns, Greys or Green, match well with this season’s plethora of wine color themes in rose’ and merlot.
These fab BCBGeneration “Wish Boots” from Macy’s at $198, available in black, or dark spice but I am all about this green!
WEDGES HIGH AND LOW:
Wedges are always in; I have saved all of mine for years. Wedges come in all leg heights from ankle to above the knee. From Lord and Taylor are these incredible tall lace up wedge Mia ‘Ursela’ boots in taupe or black at $149.00
ROCKER MOM:
Motorcycle chic, rocking harness boots are fun to throw into the mix with your tuxedo blazer, tight white tee, long multi-strand chucky gold necklace and your skinny jeans tucked in…Meow!
I have this pair of Miller motorcycle boots in black, that are sleek but tough, with a high extended calf for $345, or lower calf for $325, shown here in chocolate brown.
They are traditional harness boots with soft leather…I had to have them!
ENGLISH STYLE:
Kate Middleton would be proud! Riding boots fit right in with the 2011 fall menswear trend for women. This is one type of boot that never goes out of style!
Choose this wonderfully proper Tory Burch two-tone flannel and leather “Blair” Riding Boot at $495 in charcoal and almond (also comes in solid black).
PROPERLY SLOPPY:
Baggy boots can be seen every time you drive by a college campus. Cute with a short dress and a belted grandpa cardigan sweater…..personally I think instead of sweats! You will feel 20 something again I promise!
UGG Australia’s online website is worth exploring, they have so many new twists on the original ugg boot that it is mind blowing! This Skylair sweater knit and soft suede boot combines street chic with bo-ho style for $250. Shown here in chestnut, but also is wonderful in black with added lace detailing on the calf.
SHOE BOOTS:
Whether they are oxford or military style, shoe boots and booties are the number one selling category for boots this season! All types of heels, all types of hardware…the choices are endless!
From DSW Warehouse online comes this gently priced “Report Bisett Oxford” shoe in rust shown here or black. Again tying into the menswear look or combined with soft dressings and textured tights.
LAST THOUGHTS FROM RHONDA!
Remember to keep your investment pieces in good shape, well maintained and stored properly…your hubby will love that you are slowly taking over his closet! After the winter season is over; I resole and refurbish my boots, then store them for the summer in their original boxes stuffed with
parchment paper and wrapped separately in white wrapping tissue. Remember for proper storage…they must be kept in a climate controlled area
or in your closets.
