What did my husband do when I left him home alone with the girls? Did he worry about grocery shopping, naps, and laundry? No- he had fun. So right then and there, that’s what I made up my mind to do. Over the next few days we would do things a bit differently. We would have ourselves some good old-fashioned “Daddy Days”.

Cupcake Wars
Posted by parkcitiesmoms
It all started at the fifth grade class Christmas party. I strolled into my daughter’s class with cupcakes in hand, and could almost hear the gasps when I retrieved them from a Target bag. They were adorned with Santa and Rudolph and cute little Christmas trees, I was proud of these! Heck, the icing didn’t even smudge the slightest bit on the drive over! As I sat them on the food table, I felt a little nudge… -
Pin Ups (and Downs)
Posted by parkcitiesmoms
I am trying super hard to be one of those Pinterest people. If you’re not familiar with Pinterest, it’s basically a virtual pinboard of stuff. Pictures of things you like. You find the pictures,or recipe or whatever, and you “pin” it (or an image representing “it”) on a “board” that you “create”. So I got the invitation to join a while back, but I have to be honest with you. I don’t really get it. I think I’m doing it wrong. -
Love Letters
Posted by Samantha Conner
For me, the best way to show someone how much you love them is easy—just say it! But if the right words seem out of reach at the moment, the next best way is through old-fashioned love letters. Perhaps a letter can be even more powerful because it is pen to paper. A love letter is something you can hold onto even when the years tick by and that precious toddler turns into a precocious teenager. And at those times, if scowls seem to be given out more easily than hugs, we can turn to our love letters and remember. -
Relax Moms, You’re Nowhere
Near as Bad as I Am!Posted by parkcitiesmoms
You ever have those days where you know, by about 9 a.m., that you ought to write this one off and go back to bed? Yeah, well, today might be one of those days for me. I just sent my son to preschool in his sister’s Crocs. I’m quite certain this officially makes me “An Awful Mom”. I understand that might not sound so bad, but let me explain… -
Take a Break!
Posted by Brooke HortenstineTake a Break! Most everyone I know is beginning the Spring Break plan discussion, with Mexico typically slotted in the last spot on the wish list. A recent trip to Cabo San Lucas proved the city was as safe as it has always been, families from the States were around every corner, and the [...]

Accessorize Your Life
Posted by Samantha Conner
My current favorite embellishment is the fabric flower- easy to make and even easier to personalize. And even if you aren’t the ‘flower wearing’ kind of girl, you will find a way to incorporate this pop of color somewhere in your life. Fabric flowers are just constructed from bits of fabric, but look at how these little details can make a huge impact with their texture and color. -
Snooping, Swelling and the Flu
Posted by parkcitiesmomsSnooping, Swelling and the Flu: My Recurring Christmas Miracles by Sarah Close I have a history of almost ruining Christmas. I never mean to do it, and sometimes it’s not even my fault, but I have this history nonetheless. First, there was the time when I was about 11, when I’d asked my parents for [...]

Samantha Conner
In my “past life” I earned a degree in Education at TCU and taught elementary school. But these days, I am working as a super stay-at-home-mom with a serious craft addiction. During naptime, I am an avid blogger, runner, and nester. My blog is the place where I chronicle my journey in homemaking and sell my fabulous handmade bows, tutus, and hair accessories. I have a loving husband and two young daughters. Their enthusiasm and support is what drives my creativity in home decor, unique crafts, party planning, holiday fun, and all things girly. I am dedicated to creating a warm, loving home for my family. And to me, that means a lot of 'crafty how-to’ projects along the way. I believe that life can be more fabulous with the use of polka dots, tulle, ribbon and rhinestones! I hope you enjoy sharing in our adventures and that I can inspire you to 'get crafty' in your own home. Follow my crafting journey at craftytexasgirls.blogspot.com -
